Atmospheric historical mountain hotel on the eastern tip of the lake Bygdin.
Between Bergen and Oslo, in the surroundings of the beautiful Jotunheim mountainous area, lies the Bygdin Høyfjellshotell; founded up in 1897 as “Jotunheim Turisthotell”, has been witness to the development of the area through countless adventures, passages of property, and a change of name as well!
The hotel has a long tradition of hosting active outdoorsy visitors and even at its mature age of 126 years, some of the original rooms are available for the guests to use – of course with the due modern touches – and hear ye, hear ye, furry friends are welcome as well! Just remember that some areas will be off limits, to facilitate the stay of allergic guests.
For the daydreamers who wants to walk inside a historic atmosphere, with a fairy-like view of the lake Bygdin or the peaks of Bitihorn and Synshorn, Bygdin it’s the perfect choice! And for the hyperactives, the hotel has plenty of activities, all year round, to challenge its own limits and strengths! Don’t be fearful and be like a Viking; the kitchen of the hotel will be able to renew your energies with local-sourced food combined in heavenly plates!
