Fondsbu lies at scenic Eidsbugarden on lake Bygdin. It has a vibrant environment and is popular with avid hikers. Here there also are challenges for summit seekers and for glacier hikers.

Fondsbu has 100 bunks. There are 17 rooms with two bunks and 10 with four bunks; and there are 26 bunks in two dormitories, in the main building (totally renovated in 1993) and in the annex (new in 1999). There are toilets, showers and a drying room in both buildings. Moreover, the rooms with two bunks in the main building have sinks with hot and cold water.

 

 

Part of the cabins owned by the DNT, aka the Norwegian Trekking association, Fondsbu was opened in 1993, located in Eidsbugarden, on the shores of the lake Bygdin, between the regions of Innlandet and Vestlandet. Common trail among hunters and catchers in the early 19th century, the area gets its popularity thanks to the variation of the terrain, which allows different activities throughout all seasons, for different levels of expertise. Fondsbu cabin has been gaining popularity among Norwegian thanks to the tv-series “Fjellfolk”, but as well due to the effort of its hosts in providing tasty food, and the events which are held during all seasons – gourmet weekends are a highlight, as well as other music events during summer. With its rustique yet very welcoming atmosphere, Fondsbu represent the stereotypical retreat for the weekend, where to spend a good night sleep or a brief stop during hikes.
