Simply said, Bøttejuv is one of the most mindblowing viewpoints in Norwegian fjords. Locals call it "Preikestolen on Steroids". It is an incredible "vertical canyon" and you can hike just to the top of it. At the summit, hikers are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the Hurrungane mountain range in Jotunheimen, Øvre Årdal, and a direct view down to the emerald green Årdalsvatnet Lake.

The trail can be very muddy and slippery, especially after rainfall. The trail offers diverse flora, including seasonal mushrooms, blueberries, and lingonberries, enhancing the hiking experience.

How to get here

Drive from the village of Seim up the Seimsdalen valley almost to the end of the road. Park behind a sharp curve (see the map). Start walking on a beautiful forest trail, which later transitions into an alpine path leading towards the mountain Skorsfjellet.

Bøttejuv is not located at the very top of Skorsfjellet but slightly north of the summit.

Be very careful where you step. Above Bøttejuv, you are in extremely airy and vertical terrain.
